Who Are Peggy & Fritz?

As I mentioned in my first post, I named my blog after my grandparents, Peggy and Fritz.  I wanted to share with you, the faces behind the names.  Fritz was 6’2” with olive skin and striking green eyes and Peggy was 5’6”,  looking more Swiss, than her native Italian (she had porcelain skin and bright blue eyes).  I find back then, their attire glamorous, with Fritz in his dress pants, suspenders, and top hat and Peggy in her floral dress.  I love this picture of them in their early years, looking so dapper leaning against the car. They were happily married for over 50 years! Salute Peggy & Fritz.

I'm a Blog Virgin!

YES! I am new to blogging and experimenting with my first post. I love reading other peoples thoughts. It's like snooping in someone's windows, which is why I have decided to give blogging a try. Not because I have anything interesting to say! I do, however, have a passion for design, antiques, homes (I'm a sucker for a fixer upper) textiles, gardening, amazing food and wine! I look forward to sharing things I am passionate about.

Please note I have terrible grammar so do not judge me. I went back and forth on a cool design name for this blog and just couldn't come up with one. Instead I named it after my grandparents - two Italian immigrants from Northern Italy, Margaret Carpi and Peter Lavezzoli. Their nicknames were Peggy and Fritz. My grandfather was an incrediable mason and my grandmother was a stay at home mom with an amazing green thumb. They had the largest garden in Chester, CT. They grew everything from peach trees, strawberries, grapes, corn, zucchini, squash, peas (boy did I shuck a lot of peas growing up), melons, potatoes, you name it they grew it! I miss them dearly and couldn't think of a more fitting name for my blog.

It will likely take me a while to get the hang of it but hopefully with a little help - I will figure it out. I look forward to meeting new blog friends and learning about new design, gardening, food and wine, from all of you as well.
